Capture Notes — Privacy Policy

Android app com.capturenotes.app · Last updated 12 October 2026

Capture Notes has no account and no analytics, and your notes stay on your device. We, its developers, receive no notes, links, usage data or crash reports. Our small server only tells the app which options are on, checks Capture Notes Pro subscriptions, and, for Pro users without their own AI key, passes the AI request to Google (see below). The free version may show one ad. This page lists everything the app reads, stores and sends.

What the app stores, on your device only

Uninstalling the app deletes everything in its private storage. Notes in a folder you picked stay there.

What the app sends, and where

Nothing leaves your phone except:

  1. Requests to the pages you capture, made directly from your phone, so that site sees your IP address as with any browser visit.
  2. Public metadata requests for the same item to the site it comes from: YouTube (video details and captions), TikTok, X, Vimeo, Spotify, SoundCloud, Dailymotion and Reddit's public endpoints.
  3. One request to the AI provider you configured (Google Gemini, OpenAI, Anthropic, or any OpenAI-compatible endpoint you enter, including a model on your own network), with the extracted text of the item, your typed text, and up to a few hundred of your tag names and note titles so the model can reuse them. This happens only if you set up a provider. That provider's own privacy policy applies to what it receives.
  4. The app's options: a request to our server (admin-capture.findapply.com) when the app starts, to read which options are on (ads, Pro, a short announcement). It carries no identifier. Like any web server, ours keeps IP addresses in its access logs for up to 14 days, for security.
  5. Capture Notes Pro, only if you subscribe, restore a purchase or enter a licence key: your Google Play purchase token or your licence key goes to our server, which checks it with Google Play (or with Stripe for the web plan) and stores the subscription's status, plan and end date. A Google Play purchase token is stored only as a one-way hash. If you buy the web plan, Stripe handles the payment and gives us your email address and subscription id; we never see your card. Payments themselves are handled by Google Play or Stripe under their own privacy policies.
  6. AI included with Pro, only for Pro users who have not set up their own AI provider: the same request as item 3 goes to our server, which forwards it to Google Gemini and returns the answer. Our server does not store the text; it keeps a daily count of requests and tokens per subscription to enforce fair-use limits. Google's Gemini API terms apply to what Google receives.
  7. Ads in the free version, only when ads are on and you are not a Pro user: the app shows one ad card from Google AdMob. AdMob receives your device's advertising ID, IP address and information about the device and the ad, and may use them to show and measure ads. In the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, the app first asks for your consent with Google's consent message, and you can change your choice at any time in Settings → Ad privacy choices. You can also reset or delete your advertising ID in Android's settings. See how Google uses information from apps that use its services. Pro users see no ads and no ad request is made.

The app contains no analytics or tracking SDK besides Google AdMob for the ads above. We do not sell your data. The app does not access your contacts, location, camera, microphone or files outside the folder you pick. It reads the clipboard only when you tap Paste.

Keeping and deleting data on our server

Subscription records are kept while the subscription is active and up to 24 months after it ends, for accounting and refunds; daily AI usage counts are kept for 90 days. To have your record deleted, write to the address below with your licence key or Google Play order number. Removing Pro from the app (Pro → Remove Pro from this device) deletes it from your phone.

Content you capture

Pages you capture may contain other people's personal data or copyrighted text. That content stays in your notes on your device; keep it private if you share or publish your notes.

Children

Capture Notes is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any data from anyone.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date.
